The Book Cellar – 4736-38 N. Lincoln Ave

When we were still working for that giant chain bookstore (that will not be named) there was talk of experimenting with wine bars in the stores. Under their corporate auspices it sounded obnoxious and pretentious. The Book Cellar in Lincoln Square, however, perfectly melds the two into the definition of a cozy and charming neighborhood shop. For those nondrinkers, there’s great coffee and food too. 😀
The relatively small shop is packed to the gills yet well organized and easy to spend an hour or two wandering around. There’s a great selection of Chicago writers and the staff CLEARLY love books and are happy and eager to help you find whatever you’re looking for. Handwritten reviews and notes are everywhere, not as a marketing ploy but from genuine care and interest. Cori was especially taken with their love for Harry Potter and John/Hank Green things. We both loved this shop and highly recommend you check it out!
