Chicago Authored exhibit at the Chicago History Museum

Chicago History Museum – 1601 N. Clark Street

The permanent “Chicago Authored” exhibit at the Chicago History Museum is pretty rad. Celebrating “how those who write about Chicago shape our understanding of the city,” it’s the museum’s first ever crowdsourced exhibition. Yup, back in 2013, people were given some 450 topics to chose from and after 5,000 votes writing was the winner.

Connected to the museum’s cafe, the area encourages visitors to grab a book from the shelves and delve into the city through any number of perspectives. Plus, there’s this crazy, cozy reading nook.

It also has a self-guided audio tour and an area to write and display your own postcard.

Very, very cool stuff. And while you’re there don’t forget to stop in the gift shop, they have a ton of great Chicago related books!
